staying home for weeks makes one think.
i was thinking about reincarnation. 50000 years ago, there were less than 1 million people on earth right? 10000 years ago maybe 2 million, and now there are 6 and a half billion people on the planet. in the movie before sunrise, jesse says “Now, if we all have our own like individual unique soul, where do they all come from? are mordern souls only a fraction of the original souls? because if they are, that represents a 5000-to-1 split of each soul in just the last 50000 years, which is like a blip in the earth’s time. You know, so, at best, we’re like these tiny fractions of people, you know, walking…”
But then i was thinking, maybe our conception of souls is wrong. What if our souls are not individual, but the whole universe was just one collective soul and we are all just fragments of that collective soul. since energy cannot be created or destroyed and can only be converted from one form to another, the universe has X amount of energy, and since everything, even matter is just a form of energy, souls have to be a form of energy too, and souls cannot be created or destroyed, and hence could just be this large mass or ectoplasm that all living things share or something.
i like to imagine souls as lines. a series of lines all connected from an individual to another, forming this web or net of life. like in Alex Grey’s Theologue:

look at souls like a jug of water. the content in the jug could fill a few cups, or one jug. like how souls can be seen as a few souls for a few individuals, or a collection of souls making up one universal soul. Or, like how you could take a cell to be an individual, or you can look at a cell as part of an individual.
My point is (i’m not trying to be a hippy), if what i said is true, it would be awesome to know that we are literally the world, and it would support altruism, not just towards other people, but for all flora and fauna.
On the other hand, it could mean you are not an individual, which could support the communist argument. But then again, a communist would tell you you have no soul.
All a matter of perspective.
If you don’t understand what the fuck i’m babbling about, don’t worry, it’s not you. My thoughts are very incoherent so it doesn’t make much sense to me either. i just needed to get it out of my system. hahaha.
